What do two isotopes have in common?

Two isotopes are the same element, but with a different number of neutrons. Which element a substance is depends on its number of protons, so since two isotopes are the same element they have the same number of protons in common. Every element has an equal number of electrons to its number of protons, so two isotopes have the same number of electrons in common as well.
