Although Loftus is a professor at my school and I know her, I'm not familiar with this specific experiment. However, a t-test would only be used when you compare two samples. If you have more than two samples you would use an ANOVA, and that would tell you if there are differences between 3 or more samples. You could use the 5 variables, then use something called "planned contrasts" which are basically a set of t-tests to test for significant differences between all the possible pairs of groups.
