What makes you a believer?

What makes me a believer? I was born in to my religion. I never doubted what I was taught but I never really knew for myself if it was true. I became a believer though praying and reading my scriptures. I basically had these questions "Does God really exist?" "Why am I still in this religion?" so I looked in the scripture. Then I prayed and there I was believing. I think it can be that simple. honesty. but it may be harder for others.
